Bhubaneswar, March 15, 2004

 

We, the Ruchika Social Service Organisation and ‘vzw Ruchika-Thomas for India’, agree in partnering in a project for inclusive education in the alternative schools. We will carry out following activities in order to help visual, hearing and physical impaired children in the slums of Bhubaneswar to integrate into the mainstream society:

 

• build awareness amongst the slum-population;

• motivate children (and their parents) to go to school;

• give families of handicapped children administrative help;

• guide children in need of prosthesis/orthosis;

• train Ruchika Social Service Organisation teachers;

• awareness-building amongst teachers in mainstream schools.

 

This program will be integrated in Ruchika’s existing context, meaning that no separate project will be started. Ruchika Social Service Organisation will be able to sustain this program with the yearly funding given by ‘vzw Ruchika-Thomas for India’ and agrees to put potential surplus in a separate corpus for this program. Progress will happen at a slow pace-7 children to begin with and as the program grows, certain changes will be necessitated. These will be instituted in consultation with ‘vzw Ruchika-Thomas for India’.

 

Reports to the fund

Reports will be send to 'vzw Ruchika-Thomas For India' twice each year. One mid-term report after six months and a final report by the end of the project-year. These reports will include detailed information about expenditure. In addition to this, both parties will try to realize one direct contact each year, in Bhubaneswar or in Belgium, to discuss the evolution and the future of this initiative.

Ruchika Social Service Organisation will provide general information about the organisation and, if possible, visual materials in order to enable 'vzw Ruchika- Thomas for India' to inform and sensitize (possible) funders. Information about important strategic decisions, that will determine the future of the organisation, will be given to the Belgian funders.

 

Prohibited activities

The Ruchika Social Service Organisation does not knowingly conduct or support violent or terrorist activities nor transact business with persons or organisations that do so. They will not use any part of the grant funds, directly or indirectly, to (a) support or oppose candidates for public office, (b) cause any improper benefit to any private person or organisation, (c) induce or encourage any violation of law, or (d) conduct or support any activity not specifically authorized in this agreement.
